Christantus Uche Fuels Dominant Crystal Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another three points in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal straight passage to the knockout stages, especially after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Control Established from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee waved away the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Contest

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
